In February 2013 the "slave labour" bansky piece was removed from a wall in Wood Green North London to the dismay of the local community who were very proud to have this piece in their community, one of the poorer parts of North London.
Later in the year the piece started to appear at auctions in both the USA and the UK to the further dismay of the local community who felt the piece had been "stolen" from them.
As a local projection company we thought it would be a great idea to project the banksy image back onto the wall for one evening on June 2nd. During the projection of the Banksy countless locals told us of their sadness of the removal of the banksy and thanked us for paying tribute to their missing piece of street art due to be sold at auction the next day for at least £900,000.
Just recently in August 2013 another piece has been removed from a wall in neighouring Tottenham, another poor area of North London that really appreciated having such a piece on their streets. Maybe it isn't just coincidence that Banksy puts street art in areas that really need a moral boost and something to be proud of. Sadly though, there is nothing stopping greedy building owners from selling them.
